Advisory

 The International Student Center founded in April in 2001 was reorganized and newly started as the International Exchange and Education Center in April in 2005. The Center was developed into the Global Education Center in April in 2008.
 To help about 260 students from overseas achieve their goals, we have been working for providing psychological and educational support in their research, general study, and daily life with cooperation of full-time teaching staff and tutors at the foreign students’ counseling room.

 Graduate students tutors are in charge of counseling in Room 208,the Inter-faculty building 3 from 10 am to 17 pm from Monday through Friday except vacation periods. They correct and teach Japanese writing, give useful information not only for the fresh students, but also other students, and so forth. In the room, several personal computers are equipped and LAN is available In the opposite room, international students can relax by chatting, eating lunch and exchange with each other.
 A professional adviser will also give advice once a week. She also advices and trains tutors.

T.E.A.(Transcultural Exchange Association )

 The Transcultural Exchange Association (T.E.A) is an international exchange group for international and Japanese students studying at Ochanomizu University. There are not many chances to interact with each other among international and Japanese students, although more than 260 international students are studying in this University. T.E.A. was, therefore, established in September 30, 2002, as a bridge between different cultures and as a group for the promotion of intercultural communication in this University. The name of T.E.A. is to express our wish that both of international and Japanese students may procure friendships, promote mutual understanding, and so on through intercultural communication in T.E.A.

 Activities of T.E.A. are as follows; At lunch time in Room 102, The Inter-faculty Building 3, on every weekday (except in vacations), we get together, introduce each member’s culture including not only foreign culture but also the culture of district in Japan, talk about the plan of events, simply enjoy chatting and so forth, eating lunch. In addition to the above daily activities, we arrange a welcome party for new comers in April and October and join the International Exchange Education Symposium, an orientation in April and October, and KIINN-SAI (student festival). We sometimes explore Tokyo, hold a party at some restaurant and hold a cook and eat party at some member’s home. International Seminar at Hachioji Seminar House

 The International seminar aims to offer opportunity to deepen the friendship between foreign students and Japanese ones through overcoming the differences in nationalities and cultures and understanding each other while staying overnight together. We have published the report called,’ The International seminar’. Please do not hesitate to come and pick the printed report up at the Global Education Center.
